Quokka Island Privacy Policy
Effective date: September 28, 2026
Quokka Island ("the game") is made by Cozy Island Games ("we", "us"). This policy explains what information the game collects, why, who it's shared with, how long we keep it, and the choices you have. It's written for players and for parents. Questions: [email protected].
The short version
- You don't need to give us your name, email, or any other personal details to play.
- Your island is saved to a random account ID, so you can keep playing and not lose progress.
- Crash reports only help us fix bugs. They don't include who you are.
- Ads are optional (you choose to watch a video for leaves). Children only ever see child-safe ads, never personalized ones.
- Children need a parent to get past a check before buying anything or leaving the game for a web page.
- We don't sell your information.
Information we collect
When you start playing
- Your age group. The first time you open the game, it asks for your birth year and works out your age group (under 13, 13 to 17, or 18 and over). We keep only the age group, not your birth year, so the game can follow the right rules for you.
- A random account ID that we create for you. It isn't linked to your name or email. Your island is saved under it.
If you link Google Play Games (optional)
- Your Play Games player ID, so you can get your island back on a new phone. We don't receive your email address or your Google account details.
Your game
- Game progress: your island, your quokkas and their happiness, tasks and quests, clothing and items, and your leaves balance. It's saved on your device and on our servers.
- Game activity our servers need: when a play session starts, task and reward claims, daily bonus claims, and what you spend leaves on. We use these to run the game and keep it fair (for example daily limits on leaves) and to stop cheating.
Purchases
- Google Play handles every payment. We never see card or payment details.
- We receive a purchase record (what was bought, when, and a purchase token) through our purchase provider, RevenueCat, so we can deliver what was bought and restore it.
Ads
Ads are only shown when you choose to watch a video for leaves. Our ad provider is Google AdMob.
- Players under 13: every ad request is marked as coming from a child (AdMob's "child-directed treatment"). AdMob then doesn't use the advertising ID or show personalized ads, and only shows ads suitable for all ages.
- Players 13 to 17: only non-personalized ads, suitable for all ages.
- Players 18 and over: ads are personalized only if you agree. Where the law requires it (for example in the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland), the game asks first with Google's consent message, and you can change your answer in Settings at any time.
- To show and measure ads and prevent fraud, AdMob receives information from your device such as its IP address (which gives an approximate location), device and app details, and whether you watched the ad. For players 18 and over it may also use the device's advertising ID. See how Google uses this: policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites
Crash reports
If the game crashes, Firebase Crashlytics (Google) sends a crash report: where the game's code went wrong, the device model and operating system version, and a random installation ID. We use crash reports only to find and fix bugs. We don't add your account ID, age group, game content or anything else about you to them.
If you contact us
If you write to us (by email or with the form at cozyislandgames.com/contact), we receive your email address, your message, and your account ID if you include it. We use them only to answer you and to fix the problem you tell us about. We ask children under 13 to have a parent or guardian contact us instead; if a child writes to us anyway, we use their email address only to reply once and then delete it.
What we don't collect
- The game never asks for names, email addresses, phone numbers or home addresses.
- No precise location, contacts, photos, camera or microphone.
- No chat or messages between players, and no way to share content with other players.
- No analytics or tracking beyond what's listed here.
How we use information
- To run the game: saving your island, delivering rewards and purchases, restoring your island on a new phone.
- To keep the game fair and safe: checking rewards and purchases on our servers and preventing cheating and fraud.
- To fix bugs (crash reports).
- To show the optional ads you choose to watch, following the rules for your age group.
- To answer you when you contact us.
We don't sell personal information and don't share it for cross-context behavioural advertising except as described for players 18 and over who agree to personalized ads.
Who we share information with
Only the service providers that run parts of the game for us:
| Provider | What for | Their privacy policy |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase | Accounts, game servers and database | supabase.com/privacy |
| Google Play (Billing, Play Games) | Payments and optional Play Games linking | policies.google.com/privacy |
| RevenueCat | Checking and restoring purchases | www.revenuecat.com/privacy |
| Google AdMob | Optional rewarded ads | policies.google.com/privacy |
| Firebase Crashlytics (Google) | Crash reports | firebase.google.com/support/privacy |
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect players and the game from fraud or abuse.
Children's privacy (for parents)
Quokka Island is designed to be safe for children and is part of Google Play's Families program.
- We don't ask children for personal information. A child's account is a random ID, and we keep only their age group (under 13).
- The random account ID, the crash reports' installation ID, and child-directed ad requests are used only to run the game, keep it secure and fix bugs (what the US COPPA rule calls "support for internal operations"). They aren't used to build a profile of your child or to show them personalized ads.
- A parental gate (a question for grown-ups) appears before a child can buy leaves or open a web page. If your child's Google account is supervised with Family Link, Google Play also asks you to approve purchases.
- Children can't chat, message, or share anything with other players.
- Your rights as a parent: you can ask us to show you or delete the information linked to your child's account, or stop any further use, by writing to [email protected] with the account ID shown in the game (Settings → Account). You can also delete the account in the game at any time.
Where information is stored and how it's protected
Our servers are run by Supabase and Google, and information may be processed outside your country. Everything is encrypted in transit (HTTPS), stored with the providers' security measures, and accessible only to what each part of the game needs.
How long we keep information
| Information | How long |
|---|---|
| Account, age group and game progress | Until the account is deleted, or 2 years after the last time it was played (then it is deleted automatically), whichever comes first |
| Purchase records | As long as tax and accounting law requires (up to 7 years), separated from the account after it's deleted |
| Game activity records (claims, spending) | Up to 1 year, then deleted or kept only in summaries that don't identify anyone |
| Crash reports | Up to 90 days |
| Messages to support | Up to 2 years after the conversation ends |
Your choices and rights
- Delete your account at any time: in the game (Settings → Account → Delete account) or as explained at cozyislandgames.com/delete-account.
- Ads: players 18 and over can change their ad consent in Settings. Anyone can reset or delete the device's advertising ID in the device's settings.
- Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in Europe and the UK, or US state laws like the CCPA), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or get a copy of your information, to object to or limit some uses, and to complain to your data protection authority. Write to [email protected] with your account ID; we'll answer within 30 days.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update the date above and tell you in the game when the changes are significant. If a change would affect how we handle children's information, we'll ask for a parent's consent where the law requires it.
